Community Support

Community support is vital for increasing opportunities for children to learn in nature and play outdoors. The San Diego Children and Nature Collaborative thanks the following organizations and individuals for their financial and in-kind support.

Programs funded by:

  • California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection for project, "Urban Forestry Education: Teachers and Students Choosing Lessons in Nature" (2012)
  • Donor-directed fund at The San Diego Foundation for presentations to design and health professionals (2012)
  • Chaparral Institute for printing Exploring San Diego's Shrublands curriculum packet (2011)
  • Sempra Energy Foundation for Family Nature Days and media coverage for the website launch (2011)
  • USDA Forest Service for factors affecting decision-making for children’s nature experiences (2010)
  • Sempra Energy Foundation to support the establishment of Family Nature Clubs, Nearby Nature School Field Trip Program and guidebook, communications strategy and community asset mapping, website redesign, speakers’ bureau, learning workshops, organizational development, and evaluation (2009)
  • Grants were received in 2010 from the Sempra Energy Foundation for Family Nature Days in 2011 and media coverage for the website launch, and from the USDA Forest Service for factors affecting decision-making for children’s nature experiences.
