Backyard Bug Hunt

Take your kids on a nearby nature adventure in your own backyard! Kids of all ages will enjoy gently turning over pots and rocks to see what lurks below. This is a great opportunity also to teach about animal homes and that what we turn or lift, we must gently put back the way we found it. Before you get started, talk about what you might find and have your kids make predictions. If they have a nature journal, they can write their notes, ideas and discoveries in it!

How many different types of insects and bugs will you find? Will you find anything else? There's nothing like a backyard adventure!

Be sure to beware of your surroundings and be aware of snake safety if your yard has good snake habitat!
