I Love A Clean San Diego
Mission Statement

Mission Statement: Through outreach, community involvement and example, I Love A Clean San Diego leads and educates our community to actively conserve and enhance the environment.

I Love A Clean San Diego is a nonprofit organization committed to serving its mission. By providing environmental education and outreach as opposed to advocacy and lawsuits, ILACSD has a positive impact on youth and adults in the region. ILACSD believes that the best way to educate today's youth is to emerge them in hands-on activities to ensure that educational messages support positive behavior change. Specifically, by educating the future leaders of our region, ILACSD sets the stage for a more environmentally conscious population and cleaner community for years to come.

General Information

I Love A Clean San Diego (ILACSD) offers a broad range of expertise in environmental education programming, volunteer recruitment and community engagement. ILACSD works to promote regional awareness of environmental issues including waste reduction, community enhancement, resource conservation, recycling, and pollution prevention. The first incarnation of ILACSD was a partnership between the County and City of San Diego called the "War Against Litter Committee". It was created in 1954 to provide comprehensive regional solutions to environmental issues facing San Diego. In 1974, the Committee became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and has since continued to provide residents with environmental education and solutions to environmental challenges. ILACSD operates throughout all of San Diego County and currently manages a variety of private grants and service contracts with local municipalities to conduct environmental education and outreach programs.
